The Streak Stops at 9

It had to end eventually...   if it had to happen I figure there's no better pitcher to lose it to than former Cubs ace Greg Maddux.Cubs.gif  It was a great run (though I was kinda of hoping to see a 10-0 mark in that 'last 10' category), but as the old adage goes...    all great things must come to an end.

So bring on the next stop on the 2 week long road trip.   Bring on the Dodgers.   A 4-game series is scheduled followed by a much deserved day of rest the following Monday, the first of three Mondays in a row they have off.    On Tuesday they start a 3-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley, and that will be the last series before the start interleague play.

Check your schedules here:   http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=chc

On a side note, very few people have taken notice that despite the Cubs' 9 game win streak, the Cards are still hanging in there.   On the other side note,   the Brewers are looking at their own 9-1 record in the last 10 column, as well as sporting a 6-game win streak.    I love fighting it out in this division.
Now,  since I've used up both my side notes, I'll opt for a lighter note.    Honestly, these 9:00 or later start times are killing me!  Staying up past midnight and struggling to be on the road by 5 am is getting old (and tiresome) real quick.   Just one more late start (9:45 pm!!! WTF!?!?!)  tomorrow and I can get back into my regular sleep routine.    The sacrifices we make.

Hey skinny, did you happen to catch George Will on the Tim McCarver show on Sunday? Will's a HUGE Cub fan, and when asked about the Cards, he says "The Cardinals have NO business being this close to the Cubs, but we'll take care of them soon enough."

Classic!

Well...the Dodgers are in second place in the West and still under .500!

Sounds like a guy i'd like to sit down with at a bar, during a Cubs game, with a beer, and a big basket of chicken wings.

I was supposed to go to the Peoria Chiefs (Cubs 'A' affiliate) take on our hometown Quad City River Bandits (CARDS 'A' affiliate) last night (Monday the 9th) but it got rained out... so I'm hoping that they reschedule it on a Thursday... which just so happens to be $1 beer night.

And no... I'm not above heckling my home team... not when they're part of the Cardinal's organization... HELL no!

My disdain for liberals and collectivists is only exceeded by my hatred for the Cardinals.

I know I shouldn't hate anything, but that team, nay, that entire city, makes me shudder in abject disgust.

There. Now I feel better.

OT:

Skinny, you really need to consider running an ongoing Cub thread of some sort...

This season is rapidly shaping up to be an historic one, granted that we're still in June. However, with all of the drama we see going on with the North Siders, I'd LOVE the opportunity to bitch, moan, celebrate and speculate as the season progresses.

Just a thought...

That was actually the original idea with this entire thread... I only cared about doing the Cubs. The Cubs posts are actually organized in a category called 'the Official Unofficial Daily Cubs Blog', not much now, but when we get the new site up and running I'll be able to set that category as a front page topic (which I will be adament about updating daily, irregardless of detail)

... already all over it!

and if you're ever up to posting anything, just send me what you want to my email at skinnydipinacid@yahoo.com and i'll throw it on here and then go back in and edit it so it says your name instead of mine.
