South Side Sweeping

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with it, but when it comes to the White Sox I love a little added insult.

white_sox_kiss.jpg What a game... what a weekend... what a series!! I'd hoped it... and I dreamt it... but I never quite considered the fact that I'd have to post a topic after a Cubs sweep sweep sweeping of the bad guys. How great it is. I should have planned ahead by not drinking so much... oh thee well!

This series had a very special overtone for me. Not only was it important, Cubs were slipping, not hitting the ball, momentum crashing, blah blah blah... it's also the ultimate trash talking topic for my immediate family, as in us vs my in-laws. I've mentioned before about how everybody on my wife's side is a Sox fan, everybody but the grandpa (r.i.p.) but he became so senile over the years I knew him, he got to the point of which he couldn't remember his grand-daughter's name, where the pisser was, or the fact that he was a die hard Cubs fan. For the record, if I'm ever in that bad of shape... shoot me. I won't mind forgetting everybody's names, hell I'll even accept shitting in a sink... just don't let me forget my Cubbies. The main reason I can't stand my White Sox in=laws was 1) that the entire time I knew Grandpa Jim, I never once was able to take him to Wrigley and get him shitfaced (senile people are fun to get drunk and out in public) and 2) all they ever talked about with him was White Sox White Sox White Sox... leaving me to believe he too was a long time White Sox fan. (perhaps confusing him into thinking the same... just sick I tell you)

It may be easier to put it into perspective if I use myself as an example. I am a Cubs fan. If I can't see it on WGN, or ComCast, or ESPN, network t.v., the radio or the internet (in that order), chances are I'm in a bad mood. I hate to miss a single game... strike that... I hate to miss a single inning. I won't hyperventilate, but chances are I'll curse and kick things. I can be a royal asshole, but I'd never try to convince a senile Sox fan that they're a Cubs fan... for the record. (I need any good karma I can muster up) I've been a long time fan, as long as I can remember, and have never considered rooting for another team. Somedays, I schedule my entire work day around if and when the Cubs play. You'd be impressed by how many late lunches I've gotten away with, or "meetings" at a secluded bar I've been a part of. When the Cubs play, everything else takes it's own little place on the back burner.pissonthewhitesox.png

Now picture all of that again, only this time picture it dumber, uglier, lazier, fatter and wearing a White Sox hat and tee (don't worry... we won't see this... porn and chess... that's all his computer is used for). He doesn't work, so I guess he clearly has nothing better to do than find time to cheer for the Sox. You could even go so far as to say that the public education system has clearly failed him... oh wait... I JUST DID!! Hmmm.... now that I think about it... we really don't have anything in common... except that I bone his step-daughter 4-5 times a week... and we both love baseball.

The other thing we don't share is that his favorite team is now coming fresh off a devastating series sweep, making that 9 straight road losses for the Sox, which is WAYYyy worse than the Cubs' shitty road record. With a streak like that it makes me wish they could play in Wrigley all week. Here, there or everywhere, the Cubs' offense was simply too much for the White Sox to overcome this weekend. The homers flew, the merry-go-round kept turning (1st to 3rd to home... 1st to 3rd to home..) and the bullpen got a nice rest thanks to some stellar pitching from Dumpster tonight. I'll quote the kissing casanova from above who said "they kicked our butt, and a loss is a loss no matter who you lose against. ... but they played better than we did. They performed better. They hit better; they pitch better. Not a lot you can say."

There is one more thing that can be said... WHOOO hoooo.... GO CUBS!!

(This post was meant for all of those Sox fans who talked shit before Friday!)
