Reason to Love Baseball No. 600
... and a well deserved congratulations:
Ken Griffey, Jr.
No hub-bub, no controversy, no cheating, no whining. No, instead we get "I got a pitch I could hit and it went out for me," stated Griffey, along with "I'm glad it's over." He is now only the 6th person to achieve the 600 mark, 2 of the most recent which are surrounded by sterroid clouds (Bonds and Sosa) and 3 of which who (as the Seattle Sun-Times put it... and perfectly at that) "would have a place on baseball's Mount Rushmore, if such a monument existed — Babe Ruth, Mays and Hank Aaron."
Griffey, Jr.: proof that class acts do in fact still exist in baseball.
