Cubs Still in First

Since I've finally had some time to allow all the alcohol to seep through my pores, the body to recoupe and the overwhelming shock of going back to work to subdue,   it only seems fitting that I slowly ease my way back into this whole swing of things by doing a nice cannonball into the deep end of the BL Rag's Official Unofficial Daily Cubs Blog.   Being gone this long really allows one to get a brief perspective on things...   baseball included.
.
That being said...
Cubs Have the BEST Record in the MLB as of RIGHT NOW!
WHOOOoooooo  HOoooooo!!

Okay,  technically we're in a tie with Tampa Bay for the best record,  but c'mon... it's TAMPA BAY!  Are they really going to be where they are come two months from now?   I highly doubt it.   Not in the same division as the Red Sox and the pissed off Yankees, who I see are still not quite "earning their paychecks".  I do have to hand it to the Dodgers though,  they've really hung in there this series despite the abscense of most of their star power.   Had it not been for a key error by DeWitt in the 7th (who was having a good game until that happened) they would have had a good shot at holding onto the victory.   Torre has really proved to many (including his former boss) just how great he is as skipper.

One thing annoyed me tonight.  What's with all this hype of the Japanese vs the Japanese ?   That on top of hearing about "how much Fukudome reminds me of Matsui/Ichiro" from the jackass announcers...   they really try to make much ado about nothing when it comes to the subject of "what Japanese ball player does this Japanese ball player remind you of...
... A or B?"
