My Woshin Mashin Triumph Over Evil On "Evil Must Die"

Eccentric and downright fun electronic rock straight from Russia, My Woshin Mashin manage to unite potent social and political messages with healthy doses of strangeness on their new 2013 full-length CD "Evil Must Die". While some of their industrial-infused material may remind the listener of acts like KMFDM and Front Line Assembly, such as the full-on charge of "Riders On The Storm", other tracks, such as the hauntingly beautiful "Eli", are much harder to peg. Part of the reason behind this is the truly original voice of lead vocalist Bibi Tulin, who sits somewhere between Lady Gaga and Bjork sonically - that's meant as a compliment. Hugo Simons backs her up with growling vocals and instrumentation, and Wolfgang Scherman (who also wears a dinosaur mask) adds keyboards and other instruments.

From pop and electro to chill and industrial rock, My Woshin Mashin have it all, and they're just odd enough to stand out in today's music world. "Evil Must Die" is recommended to any fans of these genres.
