Jazzing Up Your Christmas Playlist

Our second helping of MP3 Christmas goodies comes to us courtesy of one of the best jazz ensembles you'll ever want to hear - the US Air Force's Airmen of Note.

US Air Force Airmen of NoteA Holiday Note from Home is a fantastic set of 13 holiday tunes, arranged in the tight, clean big-band jazz style first made famous by Glenn Miller and, more recently, by Johnny Carson's Tonight Show band.  (That group's arranger, Tommy Newsom, was an Airmen of Note alumnus.)  You'll get a new take on several classics (such as We Three Kings and Little Drummer Boy), but the band gives a nod to Hanukkah (Oy Chanukah) and African-American traditions (Imani) as well.  The album closes with a great rendition of You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch.

Feeding Your MP3 Player Since...Last YearThis one takes a little work (you'll have to do the right-clcick-and-Save-As thing for each track), but it's well worth it.  These tracks are a great chunk of musical variety, and they'll provide a distinctive musical backdrop for your office party or holiday travel (anything to make the Interstate more bearable, eh?), or just extra flavor for your holiday listening.

Next week, we'll take your Christmas listening in a decidedly different direction - come back and check it out.
