Rough Trade Friday, Part IV

Emilíana Torrini was originally likened to Björk both because of her Icelandic heritage and her expressive vocals. Still, she's different from the former Sugarcubes singer: she sings more smoothly, evenly, sincerely, delicately. When she put out Gun last year on Me and Armini it was a further, angrier, edgy departure for her. (The video is from Bullet Ballet by Shinya Tsukamoto.)

That's true, but few are as bizarre as Bjork, and I can really appreciate that quality in a girl...although I'll be the first to admit, too much in one sitting can run one a little past the deep end. Now Emilie Simon...there's an awesome singer (and she's French!)
