So much that he journeyed to Memphis and worked with Sam Phillips owner of Sun Records, Presley's record company. He wanted that Elvis sound. Twitty was a major contributor to the success of of Rock 'n' Roll the early years.
In 1958, 'It's Only Make Believe' hit the top of the charts and generated $8 million. Many believed that it was Elvis himself, recording under another name.
