Taxi

It's been around 30 years since I saw Harry Chapin in concert at Dayton's Memorial Hall. Harry played guitar and only had a couple of other muscians with him, including a cello player, yet they filled the old hall with harmonic vibrations.

Harry sang, told stories and joked with the audience for a good two hours before he said goodnight, but it was the stories in his songs that drew me to the show and he didn't disappoint. But then, I've always been a sucker for a good storyteller. Let's focus on some today.

Grayrider, I have been to very few concerts over the years, but I was thrilled to be at a Harry Chapin concert on my college campus. It was a benefit concert, and Harry attended by himself, no backup whatsoever, and it was possibly the best concert I ever attended. I am thinking it was 1976.
He was told by building management to wrap things up and he told the audience if he wasn't given time to finish, he would continue to play outside. They gave him more time.
I have always loved his music, "Mr. Tanner" is one of my all-time favorites.
