Ok, one for three is pretty good at the plate in baseball, but it really stinks up the place in movie reviews.

The Mist by Stephen King should have been retitled The Mess.  What might have been a decent B-movie monster flick was made unbearable by King's subplot about the eveeeeeel military, but ruined even more by his unrelenting hatred for religion.  I'm a heathen, and still found that emphasis disgusting.

Cloverfield was another disaster.  The hand-held camcorder trick got tiresome after the first 5 minutes, and then just became annoying.  Really, really annoying.  And the little detail of the missing plot line (no apparent explanation of anything) was just an oversight, I suppose.

Sheesh.

Well, at least the third DVD was a good one, even if it was an old one.  Ronin with Robert DeNiro and Jean Reno was a decent action picture.  John Frankenheimer is good at directing those, and pulls this one off nicely.  DeNiro and Reno were good as usual, as were the supporting cast members.
