Sunshine
I repeat:
Sunshine Sunshine Sunshine!!
If you haven't seen it: Rent It!!
If you own a Blu-Ray: Buy It!!!
For the kleptomaniac: Steal It!!!
Simply a great sci-fi thriller. Based on the science of our sun and the scientific predictions of what are to come, a group of astronauts set themselves on a course destined for the center of our solar system armed with the biggest nuclear weapon ever created. They're mission: To reignite our dying sun. The movie really left me wondering... why has there never been a movie about the sun before? The idea seemed perfect!
So much I can say about this movie with a cast full of variable no-namers, but then again, so did Star Wars! The special effects are amazing, particularily the the moments where the crew views Mercury orbiting the sun, mixed with the multiple angles of the space shuttle and the suns reflections. The effects are worth the watch alone!
And unlike most sci-fi's it didn't feel as phony. it really only left me with one (MAYBE two) "Oh come on now... REALLY?!'s" Unfortunately, you'll have that (it's the nature of the genre).

Well this is cool. I can see skinnydip's post, even though he's set it to stay unpublished for the time being. I can go into it and turn the reader comments on so I can comment on it, although I don't know whether comments will be visible on an as-yet unpublished post.
Skinny, if you intended to make Sunshine a link, it doesn't work (I don't know that you did.) I'm not familiar with this film. I just watched "There Will be Blood" and (IMHO) it lives up to its hype.
i can comment on my own unpublished piece...
. .. i'm glad i listened to the voice in my head that said "no skinny... don't attach the photo of you naked rubbing 'Sunshine' all over your boby"....
... or we'd all be talking about that this morning.
I haven't quite found the time to finish this post I started... business is a zoo! If i had jugglers and clowns i'd say it's a circus!!
I rented 'There Will be Blood' and haven't had the spare time to watch it yet. It's sitting with the Blockbuster copies of 'Juno', 'Before the Devils Knows Your Dead', 'AVP Requiem', 'Enchanted' for the kids, and the new digitally remastered 'Indiana Jones' trilogy.
My kids ACTUALLY said to me the other day...
"Daddy? who's Indiana Jones?" OOhhh... my failings as a parent revealed!
Can you say Saturday Jonesin'?
and I can read your comment on your own unpublished piece . . .
What's the secret? Looks like HTML text will embed in thread comments but not original blog postings??
Skinny,
You've been doing a good job--don't worry :)
i've quickly finished...
... and have now published!
i think only we editors can view the unpublished posts.
i didn't see those unpublished when i wasn't logged in.
... however,
i also didn't see the entire Movie category before either.
everything seems to be working now, but i'll keep an eye on it.
Skinny, the Movies section is visible now. I noticed too :)
