US Army Iraq After Action Reports

Posted on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 22:25 by Registered Commenterwesmorgan1 in | CommentsPost a Comment

For those interested in such things, the two After Action Reports concerning Operation Iraqi Freedom and the after-invasion phase are available as (LARGE) PDF documents:

On Point: The US Army in Operation Iraqi Freedom (approx, 50Mb)

On Point II: The Transition to the New Campaign (approx. 104Mb)

For those of you unfamiliar with after action reports, they often tend to be blunt assessments of "what worked and what didn't." Don't expect much sugarcoating or spin; these are NOT overtly political documents. If, however, you have an interest in the operational arts of strategy and tactics, they can be most interesting.
