Silencing the Critics?

Posted on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 09:41 by Registered Commenterskinnydipinacid | Comments4 Comments

Good thing we're not affiliated with Google,  or an anti-Obama website (alas):

a821_thumb.jpg

It seems the fair and balanced people over at Google are being accused of quarantining 7 anti-Obama websites.  Google has responded by saying the problem MAY have been caused by "mass spam e-mails mentioning the ‘Just Say No Deal’ network of [anti-Obama] blogs, which in turn caused our system to classify the blog addresses mentioned in the e-mails as spam," referencing a coalition of disaffected Democrats who adamantly oppose Barrack Obama's candidacy.

I found one blog's response extra special:

"Automated spam detection is not yet a perfect science."

Huh. Well, don't you think your system should be able to tell a blog with nearly 700 posts and that's been around for oh, say, THREE YEARS, from a "spam" blog???? Let's work on that, shall we? And in the absence of this sort of flagging on YOUR end, how's about a little benefit of the doubt for the next set of bloggers that get caught in your "automated spam detection" maze.

Many of the site vindicated have packed up their things and moved on over to WordPress,  yet a couple have decided to remain with Google in hopes that the "spam issue" is resolved.

Really Miss USA?  REALLY!?

Posted on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 07:28 by Registered Commenterskinnydipinacid | Comments8 Comments

At first I thought it may have been a hoax, and that would be the story today.   However, after reviewing the flop over and over again (hat tip to my DVR for that),   I ask all the pageant people of the United States....   can we find a queen who knows how to walk in a dress?

Really:

Unbelievable!

Instead of teaching my kids the valuable lesson of how shallow I think beauty pageants are, I got stuck telling them how important it is to learn how to walk in an evening gown if you ever want to be Miss Universe.   Maybe the Miss America Pageant should add a walking routine to their competition for next year. It can involve stairs, tightropes and an obstacle course, so we know we don't go three in a row and the whole world starts to think we're not smart enough to walk (as if this little blunder didn't solidify the opinion).

The funniest part is that all of this happened after she ripped "the media" for propping up skinny, hot girls for beauty queens... herself being skinny and hot (or at least skinny and hot for a slip and fall victim), while the other 15 girls talked about how important their family and culture were to them. I'm fairly certain that alone won't help get her any brownie points, much less a pass this morning from "the media".

(Spoken as if Skinny is in denial as to being part of "the media")

Send Obama Over There

t1home.missiles.irna... apparently he still thinks negotiations are possilbe.

He honestly believes that we need to "change our policy to deal aggressively with the threat posed by the Iranian regime".    Well,  that's all fine and good Senator,  but change our policy to what?  More liberal,  or should we go back the other direction and let more Conservative leaders take the reigns for a while.    So far the European Union, the UN and Islamic-leaning appeasers that represent the Democratic Party aren't quite getting the message through the thick skulls setting atop some tiny little bodies.

Of course our Congress is all over this.   They're in meetings trying to figure out what 'warm and fuzzy' approach we should take to make these idiots understand that we really don't want to obliterate them...   unless they force our hand.  Their problem is that they just can't figure out a way to strike some fear into these people.      (eeeeeek)

How do you talk sense into people who are being led by nutcases making statements like "we want to tell the world that those who conduct their foreign policy by using the language of threat against Iran have to know that our finger is always on the trigger and we have hundreds and even thousands of missiles ready to be fired against predetermined targets," which was worded by General Hossein Salami, commander of the Revolutionary Guard ground forces, on state TV.

images.jpgLet's ignore the fact for a moment that Isreal is now within firing range of these long-range missiles and being threatened with complete annihilation every week by Shorty McAhmadinejad,  but focus more on whose troops are in between Iran and Isreal...     ours...   as well as our allies.     All would be affected by these missles...   all our within range...   and the Iranian leaders' itchy fingers are "always on the trigger."

That's right Obama,   I'm sure you have a better idea.   Let's all just sit in a circle and hope for change,  because the tried and true more liberal approach clearly has worked wonders so far.   Ask the people within firing range whether or not negotiations will work.   Even the most liberal of Israelis would argue with you on this one.

Oh Iran... There You Go Again

Somedays its hard to take these people serious:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,377626,00.html

A couple things.    First,  it may not be the best idea to have your religious clerics speaking for your country... just a thought.    Second,  I'd love to see them try to burn our naval vessels.   (Honestly...   these people must WANT a war!)

Iranian Guard official Ali Shirazi took the cake:

"The Zionist regime is pushing the White House to prepare for a military strike on Iran," Shirazi was quoted as saying. "If such a stupidity is done by them, Tel Aviv and the U.S. naval fleet in the Persian Gulf will be the first targets which will be set on fire in Iran's crushing response."

Way to go Iran,  you just figured out how to have every single weapons system of the United States aimed directly at you.    Not a simple task to accomplish.
