Independence Day

It was not an easy process, nor one entered into lightly.  It was no less than earthshaking.  We owe everything to our Founders.

This clip from the film "1776" is one of my favorites.  It gets to the heart of the process, even while being a bit cloudy about dates (the vote was for the Lee Resolution, and taken on July 2nd, while the Declaration was approved on the 4th, and not fully signed for some time after.

John Adams, in a letter to his wife, said:

"I am apt to believe that it [July 2nd] will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

Well stated, Sir.

"Reporter: FBI ordered ‘no photos, no pictures, no cell phones’ during Clinton/Lynch meeting"

That must have been some discussion about weather and grand children.. Btw; if you've ever seen Lynch from head-to-toe you can respect the FBI's 'no pictures' request...

July 1, 2016 at 11:58 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Nothing says Americana like the 4th of July, fireworks, apple pie and Hilda having her felony charges interview with the FBI this weekend. Bwa, bwa, bwa, oh' someone has great sense of humor at the FBI...

July 1, 2016 at 16:21 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Very interesting. Loretta "Hug a Terrorist" Lynch meets with Slick Willie Clinton for a half hour in secret, and soon after getting caught doing so, she announces that she will accept whatever recommendations the FBI puts out in regard to Slick's wife's case. Trying to cover her tracks? Or is she doing that on secret orders from King Barry, who really detests the Clinton Gang? Who knows? Well, we know that everything about the case stinks like last week's fish, if nothing else.

In Bangladesh, a half dozen gunmen invaded a restaurant where a lot of western people go, killed at least 2 and wounded at least 40, and took hostages, all while shouting "Allahu Akbar." ISIS claimed responsibility. But still, I'm waiting for Obama or Kerry to declare that they have NO idea what the terrorist's motives are.

Ramadan is going well, bloodbath-wise.

July 1, 2016 at 17:25 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

You're right; we may never know ISIS's intent.....

July 2, 2016 at 07:36 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Maybe they're just pissed off over the goat shortage.

July 2, 2016 at 08:37 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

ISIS hates the Bangladesh for their opulent hookah pipes.

July 2, 2016 at 09:56 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

And as predictably as the sunrise, Obama's mealymouthed State Department spokesman says it's too early to know the motivation for the attack. I guess the thugs weren't really shouting, "Allahu Akbar." Must have been yelling, "Alan is at the snackbar."

Good lord. How much more cover can this foul administration give to the radical Islamists?

July 2, 2016 at 10:35 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Like clockwork, more Ramadan blood. 80 dead, nearly 200 injured, in a radical Islamist bombing in Baghdad.

What will Obama/Kerry/Lynch talk about? Workplace violence? Random acts caused by poverty? No idea of a motive? Let's go hug an Islamist?

Hilda's still trying to pass off that FBI "review" thingie... Please someone tell the smartest woman in the world what the "I" in FBI means...

July 3, 2016 at 16:40 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

So Billy meets with Loretta on Monday and today Hilda says maybe Loretta may stay on as her AG. Funny the power of grand kids pictures....

July 4, 2016 at 22:24 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Somehow, the presumptive smartest woman in the world is behaving more like the stupidest woman in the world.

Maybe it's just a matter of Malignant Clinton Hubris.

"SIGH" -- The Smartest Woman in the World, reading stage directions out loud from her teleprompter

July 5, 2016 at 09:31 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Really interesting Townhall article by Kurt Schlichter. How should good people act now that the rule of law has been so damaged?

When considering Islamic terrorists finally getting around to beheading their useful idiots on the left he wrote:
" Oh, wait. The last words of some of these people to their radical Muslim killers before they are beheaded will be, “Please remember me as not being Islamaphobic! And sorry about the Crusades!” "

Read the entire article, "You Owe Them Nothing, Not Respect, Not Loyalty, Not Obedience"

July 5, 2016 at 11:32 | Registered CommenterDuff, man

Remind the worms about the ongoing corruption investigation of the Clinton Foundation Slush Fund.

And too, the fact that the FBI still holds Hillary responsible for "extreme carelessness." Might be good for the FBI to compare Hillary's extreme carelessness to General Petraeus' not so extreme carelessness that got him in worse trouble.

"Officer I didn't intend to rob that bank. Well then move along sonny....."

July 5, 2016 at 11:53 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

This FBI conclusion is not unexpected, not with big time leftie AG Lynch running the FBI. It would have taken guts for the FBI to go against the boss lady, and guts are in short supply in the bureaucracy.

It's not a stretch to assume she knew in advance that her FBI would not recommend charges, thereby explaining her quick jump to declare that she would follow the FBI's advice. Did Bill Clinton advise her to make that statement during their improper meeting? What did he know, and when?

July 5, 2016 at 13:03 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Leftie commentary du jour: "Hey, so what if she's dirty as hell. The main thing is that she evaded arrest. Sure, she's a crook, but she's OUR crook. Yaaay, Hillary!" [etc. etc.]

Yep, stand proud, you lefties.

July 5, 2016 at 13:32 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Another swing and wiff at the Clintons.

One of these days maybe Republicans will learn that the way to victory isn't phoney bologna scandals and rather to propose actual policy that people want.

July 5, 2016 at 17:09 | Registered Commenterkwawk

I'm pretty disappointed in you on this one.. Even Sanders supporters from the left are saying she was guilty and there is a second set of rules for the Clinton's. Comey literally added the word 'intent' into a statute where Congress didn't provide one... Gross negligence statutes were never set-up to consider intent.

A lot of people today are writing and saying how disgusted they are with America and they've stopped being proud of this country.. Hard to argue when we've devolved into a Banana Republic..

July 5, 2016 at 17:47 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

This is kwawk's candidate and her lies vs. Comey's statement on those lies... But remember; she's not guilty of any felonies..

July 5, 2016 at 17:53 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Well Tom, to me this represents an odd trend that has been going on for at least 20 years now where right wing media and right wing blogs pick up on a minor issue with a small grain of truth to it, blow it all out of proportion, promise to put the Clintons or other democrat in jail and the like, only to have to be talked down after the fact because it was all a lot of hype.

You got your rebuke of Hillary. Instead of setting up a gmail account she set up her own email server. Bad Hillary, bad!

July 5, 2016 at 22:01 | Registered Commenterkwawk

kwawk reminds me a little bit of the fanaticism of ISIS fighters for their Muslim leaders; there is nothing they can do wrong, they pledge undying allegiance and their with them until the end.. Beyond kwawk’s laughable "minor issue with a small grain of truth to it" for Hillary per those in government Hillary is now technically per the FBI ineligible for a Top Secret clearance. If she does become POTUS this should be interesting how POTUS has to leave the room when TS discussions begin..

July 6, 2016 at 00:19 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

In 2000 federal prosecutors determined that Hillary gave 'factually false' under-oath testimony in the Travel Office affair... Hey kwawk and Tea Bagger; she's your lying bitch... Way to pick a pathological liar who every four-eight years is the subject of a FBI investigations started under democratic Presidents...

July 6, 2016 at 00:25 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

KwAwk, if you can still support Hillary after listening to Comey's laundry list of her offenses, you must be suffering from some form of comprehension disorder. He indicted her in the court of public opinion. She will labor under the burden of her proven misdeeds, and if there is any justice in the land, it will cost her the election.

July 6, 2016 at 07:06 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

I'm of the opinion that Comey's decision, combined with the rest of his comments, will result in the best possible outcome for the country. If The Old Bag had been indicted, we might have wound up with a brokered Dem convention and a candidate far better than Clinton. Given Trump's unlikable nature, that might easily have given us a leftie president. But now, Hillary has a clear route to her coronation as the nominee, while still facing months of trying to distance herself from Comey's damning comment about her awful actions. She wanted a clean slate, so she can't be happy about this.

July 6, 2016 at 08:18 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

What Hillary was doing in all of this was finding a way to have her emails delivered to a blackberry/smart phone so that she could communicate with her staff. This is a service that is available to any middle manager in any company across this country. It is my understanding that the State Department had asked for assistance from the NSA to have this done within the same protocols and procedures as was done to provide President Obama with a secure smart phone but he NSA refused to lend assistance. If we really want to delve into this issue perhaps we should figure out why in the year 2016 cabinet level officials can't have secure blackberry/smart phones as a default.

Now when the director of the FBI tells me that they reviewed a minimum of 30,000 emails and found 7 which they felt were out of compliance I'm tending to think that perhaps the issue is being a little bit blown out of proportion. Especially when we consider that this is a cabinet level position where they are trading in highly classified top secret information probably hourly if not minutely.

July 6, 2016 at 09:06 | Registered Commenterkwawk

Red - If Hillary had been indicted and forced to drop from the race, you would have had 3 main candidates to replace her: Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders.

I'd have been happy with any of the three.

July 6, 2016 at 09:09 | Registered Commenterkwawk

A fumblemouthed serial fondler, a brazen culture-appropriating liar, and an insane old socialist. Nice trio. And any one of them would be better than Hillary.

As for your "statistics" in defense of Hillary above, you obviously did not read the transcript of Comey's remarks.

July 6, 2016 at 09:26 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Perhaps then we should focus on getting our senior leadership in government the proper 21st century tools they need to do their jobs.

This is the difference between you and I though. The other day Trump tweeted out a picture of Hillary calling her corrupt with a six pointed star. Many people have pointed to this and said that this was a dog whistle which was meant to tie greed and corruption to Jews. The Trump folks said that it looked to them like a Sherriff's star.

I can accept this. I ask myself is it more likely that a national Presidential candidate thought they'd get some benefit by posting anti-semetic propaganda to twitter or is it more likely that a political neophyte like Trump simply didn't make the connection between the two. I went for the latter.

You however seem to go for the most outrageous possible explanation and work your way backwards.

July 6, 2016 at 09:34 | Registered Commenterkwawk

Really kwawk; your going to lecture Trump when your party is pro PLO, Hamas and Hezbollah who call for the destruction of Israel? Where the son of one of Hillary's closest confidants Max Blumenthal spews anti-Semitic hate on a daily basis? Message fail...

July 6, 2016 at 10:12 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

It's the exact opposite Tom. I accept that Trump was more than likely not thinking in terms of anti-semeticism when he made the post.

"2015: DOJ Prosecutes A Naval Reservist For Mishandling Classified Info WITHOUT MALICIOUS INTENT"

Just a refresher that there are two sets of rules; one for Hillary and one for some poor sap in the military.. Also; man Obama hates the military...

July 6, 2016 at 10:18 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

So now even Mr. Comey, the FBI director is in the tank for Hillary?

Perhaps you should ask Lindsey England about double standards between civilians and military? You know, cause I surely believe that when Ms. England's unit was getting ready to deploy to Iraq that all she could think of was driving around collecting a bunch of extra dog collars and leashes just in case they might come useful.

"Three Eyewitnesses Allege Hillary Called Aide A ‘F**king Jew Bastard’

LOL.... And this was verified in The Guardian....Not exactly a conservative media outlet...

July 6, 2016 at 11:02 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Comey might just be the shrewdest FBI director ever. He knew that there would be no successful prosecution of Hillary under this AG and this president, so he didn't make the futile gesture of recommending prosecution. Instead, he went on record with a big laundry list of Hillary's malfeasances, so the voters could decide if she is unfit for office.

July 6, 2016 at 11:21 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

KwAwk said: "You however seem to go for the most outrageous possible explanation and work your way backwards."

Hardly outrageous. Hillary's many violations are clear, defined, and verified. Nothing needs to be fabricated. She's a liar, dangerously careless, and in willful violation of national security protocols. No one who has done the verified things she has done should ever hold public office, not even as a county mosquito commissioner.

July 6, 2016 at 11:27 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

So it's a 16 year old story referring to an incident that supposedly happened 42 years ago?

July 6, 2016 at 11:29 | Registered Commenterkwawk

OK, I give up. Apparently you're talking about some other subject. What happened 42 years ago?

July 6, 2016 at 12:08 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Supposedly, when Bill Clinton lost his congressional bid in 1974 there is a thought that she called his campaign manager a Jew bastard. This was brought up by the Guardian in 2000.

July 6, 2016 at 12:13 | Registered Commenterkwawk

In any case, I went back and read the Comey report. We are talking about maybe 150-200 emails out of 30,000-60,000. This isn't a case where she was just spreading classified info in her email at every turn. And it doesn't even say that Mrs. Clinton herself was the person who put the information in the email, just that it was there.

July 6, 2016 at 12:16 | Registered Commenterkwawk

It doesn't matter whether she sent or received the data. She screwed up the security so that the data was put at risk.

Per Comey:

"...there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information."

"...any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position, or in the position of those government employees with whom she was corresponding about these matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation."

"...we assess it is possible that hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail account."

Is Hillary Clinton the sort of grossly reckless security risk that should be our president? No way in hell.

July 6, 2016 at 13:03 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

I agree with Speaker Ryan's idea; no security briefings for Hilda...People with security offenses have had their credentials pulled for less.

July 6, 2016 at 13:47 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

I bet you're feeling a little buyer's remorse that what was supposed to be one of the strongest Republican Presidential fields in decades was decimated by a non-serious candidate on a self promotional tour.

The State Department email system was hacked by the Russians a while back, if any gains would have been made by Clinton having used the State Department system were lost then.

There is a reason that no prosecutor is going to touch this case with a 10 foot pole. One of the reasons is that I'm sure nobody in the congress really wants to have the FBI combing through their emails in case a piece of classified information was inadvertently transmitted by them or their staff. The FBI is trying to put the fear of God in people surely to come off as hard asses but I'm sure this stuff happens every day across many departments.

I see Demwits won't even allow a vote on a law that cuts funding to sanctuary cities that fail to deport illegal alien criminals. It was called Kate's Law who was murdered in cold blood by an illegal alien previously deported. Now mind you I'm not saying the bill failed on an up or down vote..NOOOOO it was filibustered by that human POS Harry Reid and the rest of the sick demwit fucks. Nice party ya' got there boys.
