Black Pastors Rally Against Obama Over Homosexual Marriage

CNN

The Coalition of African-Americans Pastors, an organization comprised of thousands of black church leaders, has launched a campaign against President Obama due to his flip flop on same sex marriage.

President and founder, Rev. Williams Owens had this to say...

“The time has come for a broad-based assault against the powers that be that want to change our culture to one of men marrying men and women marrying women,” said Owens, in an interview Tuesday after the launch event at the National Press Club. “I am ashamed that the first black president chose this road, a disgraceful road.”

3,742 African-American pastors are reportedly involved in the effort.

“we are going to go nationwide with our agenda just like the president has gone to Hollywood.”

Same sex marriage has long been a divisive issue among African-Americans.

Ruh roh. Trouble in paradise.

By the way, anyone who is in Tampa today is welcome to join me at Chick-fil-A for lunch.

I agree homosexuality is a sin. I also agree that God wants us to choose HIm verses being forced to accept Him (i.e., he didn't make us robots for a reason)! The constitution guarantees fairness to all individuals including gays. I am totally against gay marriage or even being gay, but if someone chooses to marry a butterfly that is strictly up to that person. We can not legislate morality!

The chances that black pastors advising their parishoners to vote agaisnt Obama is like the NRA telling their members to not vote for Romney. Not going to happen.

August 1, 2012 at 11:52 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

You're probably right, Thomas, but by doing what the ministers are doing, there's the potential of having a lot of black voters decide for themselves that Obama isn't The One after all.

August 1, 2012 at 12:11 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

If they do, won't it be high irony when your voter suppression tactics keep them from voting?

Welcome to the fray Concerned Cali. Appears you have your choice of being Pepe LePeau, Porky Pig or Tweety Bird.

And I agree that you can't legislate morality in this manner.

Abortion is a moral issue for millions of Americans. Prostitution is a moral issue for millions of American. Same sex marriage is a moral issue for millions of Americans. Contraception is a moral issue for millions of Americans. Oh, I forgot those folks don't count. Only for those who have no morals do we have legislation governing behavior. Therefore no moral issues are being legislated. It's all about health, safety and the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No moral issues there.

August 1, 2012 at 14:45 | Registered CommenterTijuana

Well said, Tijuana. And, of course, kwAwk is forgetting that by having government embrace gay "marriage", we are, in fact, legislating morality. But legislating morality is fine, when it's his agenda.

By the way, KwAwk, I'm a lot more the Yosemite Sam type. Pay attention, ya varmint.

I wonder if all the pastors in this picture are eating at Chick-fil-A today? Huge crowds across the country. The dems sit back and are clueless on why this is a big deal. I would suggest if possible they go back in time six-months and ask Obama why this business is being harassed for the same views he has on gay marriage but we all know Barry is an evolving complex person.

August 1, 2012 at 16:47 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

I understand this company President Dan Cathy says he supports traditional marriage. I take Mr. Cathy at his word. By gorry by gum I for one will go toe-to-toe against anyone who tries to keep Mr. Cathy from having one. That’s his right. Jerkoffs!

August 1, 2012 at 18:32 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

I wonder if all the pastors in this picture are eating at Chick-fil-A today? Huge crowds across the country. . . . ask Obama why this business is being harassed

Wait, is it enjoying huge crowds or suffering harassment? Tom’s always had this curious notion that no one should be able to find out which causes corporations give money to. See, people who disagree with those causes might decide not to patronize them, thereby violating the corporations’ First Amendment rights. (It says right in the First Amendment, companies can never be criticized nor may anyone endanger their third-quarter revenues.)

Abortion. . . Prostitution . . . Same sex marriage . . . Contraception [are] moral issue[s] for millions of Americans. Oh, I forgot those folks don't count. Only for those who have no morals do we have legislation governing behavior.

There’s no mistaking that characteristic whiny Nooshan tone of self-pitying whackadoodle persecution.
No, Tijuana, being able to dictate what contraception my family members can use (or whether they can use any at all) is not your f***ing religious right. MYOB. If you don’t want a same-sex marriage (or an abortion for that matter), don’t have one.
Fact is the wingnuts have lost this one for all time, and they know it. There’s nothing left but the whining. But oh, can they whine on!

GrayRider, same thing here. Yesterday noon, the Chick-fil-A was so packed I couldn't get in. Golly, all that lying "Chicago values" bluster from scumbag Rahm "Dead Fish" Emanuel sure has shown Chick-fil-A a thing or two. [snort]

Tom, did you notice how Wacko Winnie just slid right past your accurate comment about Obama now (gay "marriage" good) vs. Obama 6 months ago (gay "marriage" bad)? What do you suppose Li'l Winnie will have to do to distract from the next Obama cluster ****?

August 2, 2012 at 06:26 | Unregistered CommenterRedBeard

Actually Winston I have no problem if people who disagree with Chick-fil-A's position on gay marriage choose not to eat at their restaurants. What I do have a problem is when demwits threaten Chick-fil-A with bans on building businesses or closing them down. Real Nazi, I mean Occupy, I mean liberal thug tactics. Tea Partiers would say don't eat at _______. No not libs, they have to crucify them, close them down then ostracize them all for the sin of disagreeing with their beliefs. Sound familiar Winston? We get it from you on this site near daily.

August 2, 2012 at 06:53 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Message to Dan Cathy: Obama says you and your dad didn't create your business. No, all your family did was to dream, to create it, nurture it, put your hearts and souls into it, live by your moral beliefs, voluntarily give up 1/7th of your potential revenue by keeping the chain closed on Sundays on principle, provide jobs for a whole bunch of people, and pump money into the economy.

And now, when you simply speak from the heart about your personal beliefs, you are savagely attacked by the leftie scum mayors of Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco, with the unjustified and corrupt threat (veiled and not so veiled) of legal action to deny your business the opportunity to expand and create more jobs and economic growth.

Do you sometimes wonder what has become of our country, with the lunatics being in charge of government? Well, don't be too concerned. The massive crowds at your restaurants yesterday show that America isn't quite lost yet, despite the best (worst) efforts of the noisy left. The good fight goes on.

Tough week for the libs; Gore Vidal is dead. I seem to notice the sun was a little brighter today, the birds were singing and people were friendlier. Coincidence? I think not.

August 2, 2012 at 07:06 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

I hate to cheer anyone's death. It's more a choice between caring about someone's death or being largely unmoved by it. I'll stake out the latter position.

But then, Vidal was always such a great spokesman for filthy and obscene un-American values. It's always good to have such a representative shooting off his mouth, so we know just what the enemies of civilization are thinking.

August 2, 2012 at 07:10 | Registered CommenterRedBeard

Checking out this video of a fearless lib harassing a poor Chick-fil-A worker at a drive-thru window. Notice her politeness while this lib loser berates her for working at a company that supposedly promotes hate. Btw, notice he did ask for the "free" water. Typical lib.

Really? That wasn’t your tune a few months back; I think you called it “terrorism.” But OK, whatever. Mighty generous of you to allow I’m entitled to spend my money wherever I want to, or not at all.

not libs, they have to crucify them, close them down then ostracize them all for the sin of disagreeing with their beliefs. Sound familiar Winston? We get it from you on this site near daily.

Whine on harvest moon. Why don’t you let me know in which city a Chick-Fil-A was shuttered by the jackbooted fascists of political correctness? Meanwhile all my efforts to shut your painfully wrong piehole seem to have come to naught, since you continue spouting falsehood after falsehood here every day.

Obama says you and your dad didn't create your business.

Yes, they’re really going to continue spouting this transparent and ridiculous falsehood.

Meanwhile I see the right-wing grave-pissers are out again, projecting like mad as usual. Personally I can imagine no finer final honor than having a bunch of these monumental turds shout “Stay classy, libs!” over my final resting place while unsteadily aiming their weak stream of tinkle.

It’s really a striking contrast. Navy veteran Vidal died at 86, leaving a body of honor-winning literature that will endure as well as the friendship, admiration, and respect of many fine and accomplished people. The Brentwood Speedbump, on the other hand, dead at exactly half that age from his rage addiction, a professional liar who devoted his short loud squalid life to dishonest smears, and leaving behind just a libel lawsuit, a doomed website run by otherwise unemployable dumbasses, and the grief of nitwits and racists.

August 2, 2012 at 10:20 | Registered CommenterWinston

No Winston the "terrorist" label I would have applied to the left-wing thugs you so affectionately embrace are the half-wits who won't just leave their protest to not patronizing an establishment. They have to throw bricks through windows at independently-family owned Starbucks as a message to those Mom & Pops who work 16 hour days that the Occupy assholes really know who the 1% are. As for Vidal, another lib-bully who couldn't take it when the spot light and verbal cannon was turned back on him. He was never the same after 68' when Buckley told him on national T.V. that he was going to punch his lights out if he ever called him a "crypto-Nazi" again. The little worm Vidal crawled off in the night. As for wrapping Vidal in the veteran flag to protect him; sorry. He was an America hating prick who probably knows today there is a heaven AND hell.

August 2, 2012 at 10:34 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Stay classy, Tom! Reality and facts never slowed you down in the slightest. They probably never will.

August 2, 2012 at 10:48 | Registered CommenterWinston

Winston’s Blind Facts-

1). Occupy Wall Street thugs haven't damaged property based on their perception of the 1%.

2). Buckley didn't threaten to punch out Vidal on T.V. when Vidal called Buckley a Nazi in 68'. (Back then it meant something and people got their ass kicked for calling someone a Nazi.) The left has so corrupted the term it's now almost meaningless. Almost like "you’re a racist."

As for Vidal, if he was so beloved; where are the memorials? T.V. tributes. Testimonials from friends and adversaries on his contribution to society? Instead, Vidal's passing is treated with a yawn and a small newspaper note likely next to something about Brittany Spears. Never fear, that political giant Bill Maher will have a tribute on his HBO show possibly sandwiched in between something about Sarah Palin being a c**t.

Legislating morality: The entire argument put forth by liberals for legislating our welfare state was/is couched in a moral argument. It is the right/even Christian (they love to use that one) thing to do and all like that :). In fact almost all policy arguments are framed in moral arguments to a great degree, even those having to do with economics, free markets and capitalism vs socialism. It is what is right for the country, for our people, for the world, for society at large. So just give it a rest on the "we shouldn't be legislating morality" bullshit.

It is only when Christians get involved that leftists go getting their panties all in a wad (go ape shit) about not legislating morality. Like, "you ain't got no right puttin your stuff on me man" (getting the tone of that right in the written word is just impossible) kinda thing they like to do. Buncha jokesters you moonbats can be.

Aw, educate yourself a little, Tijuana. Connecticut banned all contraception as recently as 1965. One recent Republican Presidential frontrunner (“Frothy”) opposes contraception of all kinds and argues the Supreme Court was wrong to rule states had no authority to ban contraception. For MARRIED people.

One of the challenges you lunatics have managed set for the left is that it can be difficult to convince people Nooshans are actually serious about the outrageous s*** they propose.

However, at this point you are losing pretty badly, that's why wingnuts are losing their s***.

Both made campaign visits to Newport Beach, CA. One pays his bills in 30-days. The other gives a big FU and is over 90-days late. Newport Beach says they'll take the Obama campaign to court. Meanwhile (forgetting for a moment Winnie's usual incoherent sputterings), it's interesting to note that Chick-fil-A was amazingly crowded today, too. What we're seeing is masses of normal Americans calmly demonstrating that the radical leftist Chick-fil-A haters are only obvious due to the decibel level of their screaming, not because there are that many of them.

Apology accepted.

Even when I was in High School and I am 65 windy, you could buy a condom in most any gas station rest room for a quarter. So I don't think there has been any great big band wagon push to ban condoms since my teenage years that I am aware of. Now if mr. baird was riding around in a van, even today, in my neighborhood dispensing condoms to whomever wanted them and if my kids were still living under my roof I'd wanted his ass arrested.

BTW, why aren't democrats and liberals in general criticizing these ministers, who happen to be black, for their criticism of obama and his stance on gay marriage. Haven't heard a peep out of you either on that one. But then I'm sure you wouldn't want to be seen as racist. And why didn't rom emanuel resign in protest from the obama administration when obama was against gay marriage before he was for it. huh? huh? Guess I'm just to ignurnt to understand that one.
