Yet another reality of Obamacare is finally being brought out into the light. Must be one of those things that Madam Pelosi said we would discover only after the bill was passed.
Care rationing, or death panels if you will, are a harsh reality. So much for Obama's PR team's assurance that no such thing would ever happen. Tell any lie to get the bill passed, right Mr. President?
This comes as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention, but those who only casually educate themselves via the Obama Media Complex are sure to be alarmed by this startling bit of honesty rearing its head amidst the cloud of leftist lies.

That's a common problem among lefties. It accounts for their crappy outlook on America, life, freedom, and personal responsibility.
Other than having the word 'rationing' hitting an emotional nerve center in your brain causing an immediate and severe seizure, is there anything in the opinion piece that you actually disagree with?
Is it your contention that we can afford infinite medical care for the elderly in order to preserve life to the extent of saving every possible minute?
Does the idea of private insurance companies making these decisions on how to ration care somehow making you feel better and more secure than having government do so? Can you really not see that all insurance plans are in the business of rationing care on a daily basis? Want to see a specialist? Get a referral! Want that new drug that is best in class for your disease state? Sorry not covered under our formulary. Think you might want to go to the emergency room for that funny pain in your side? Be careful, is that hospital in network?

Kwawk, you’re a vet. Which hospital system gives better care, the VA or a private hospital? Although I'm not a vet ,I've spent many hours in both and it's no contest; the private hospital. The level of personal care, quality of doctors and modern medical equipment is unbelievable. All brought to you by the U.S. government for twice the cost and half the value. Your "there's a pony under all that horse shit" faith that 'this time' the government will get it right is mis-paced

I would say just the opposite TM. I've never been served in a VA hospital as I have private insurance but my is father a veteran from back in the day has repeatedly recieved quality care. He doesn't always get what he wants when he wants it but he's also not had to pay out thousands of dollars out of pocket for what he needs done.
There are good hospitals in his hometown but his has for years been willing to travel 100 miles to get treated at the VA because it is most certainly cheaper than a private hospital. That level of personal care you talk about at the private hospital is expensive.
Private medical providers are very good at making it seem like it's all about you. That they're just providing the best care because you're so important! But anybody who's been through the military has more than likely learned their lesson, taught to them with love from their drill instructor, that it ain't about you.
I should note that the VA hospital my dad goes to is in Ann Arbor and thus has a lot of the same doctors as the University of Michigan Hospital System. I'm sure not all VA hosiptals are the same just as all private hospitals are not the same.
Except there were not lies by the Obama administration. The Affordable Care Act did not contain any rationing regulations, it only made available to people end of life counceling.
You know, for doctors to sit down with patients and discuss with them their treatment options and what the realistic chances were for success of said treatment so they could decide for themselves having all of the information whether to get that hail mary treatment with little to no chance at success. And perhaps to get more people to sign living wills so that if they're 75 years old and they have a massive heart attack they don't get put on a ventilator for weeks or months costing society hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Okay, so Obama was questioning whether race played an issue in whether to exempt New Orleans from Stafford requirements the way New York was after 9/11 or Florida was after Hurricane Andrew.
Is there any evidence to show that New Orleans was treated the same as the other two events? Is there any reason that we should believe that a racial component to the differential treatment is absurd or out of the question? So absurd as to make speculation of one a radically insane idea?

Tad, that's really not the point. The core of the argument at the head of this thread isn't the rationing so much as the pack of lies that Obama told us about what Obamacare would, and would not, do to us. Of course nothing is free, not lunch and not health insurance.
But in the private insurance world, where I have been covered all my life, I can opt to buy pretty much any degree of coverage I want, from a basic catastrophic policy (like I had in the really lean times of starting a business) to a robust plan that pays for virtually everything.
No, Tad is completely on point. If your basis for saying the President told a "pack of lies" about his healthcare plan is that he mischaracterized the role of rationing, then the distribution of medical resources before and after passing the ACA could not be more relevant.
What you want is a "debate" on whether the President told a "pack of lies" and you want to restrict that debate by starting with an unchallengeable premise that the President told a "pack of lies" because "death panels are a harsh reality."
No surprise if Tad loses interest in such a monstrously phony "debate."

So you check out of the hospital; the illness or malady returns and the government "fines" I mean reduces the reimbursement payment to the hospital for re-admitting you. Insurance Company Rationing - Private insurance decides what healthcare you receive based upon cost and benefit analysis along with profit motive.
Self Rationing - People deciding what healthcare they recieive based upon cost and benefit analysis and ability to pay.
