Political Buffet - Pick Your Dish

Well, we've had an onslaught of stories in the last day or two, although many of them have been lost in the rush of celebrity deaths.  So, let's call this a half-open thread, and you can comment on your choice of:

* The SCOTUS reversal of Ricci v. DiStefano and its potential effect upon Sotomayor's confirmation

* Mark Sanford's continuing revelations (additional women, other trips to meet his Argentinian mistress)

* The Minnesota Supreme Court's finding that Al Franken won the Senate election

* Iran's affirmation of Ahmadinejad's election and the continuing (if lessening) protests

* Ron Paul's proposed legislation to "Audit the Fed"

Have at it - but no threadjacking!  *chuckle*

I was just logging in do add something just like this...
I was going to title it... where the hell to begin?
Must be reading my sick, sick thoughts Wes.

Although... may we also add:
* House passes energy bill without reading any of it (again)
* The 3 am / 300+ page ammendment and less than 24 hours (how transparent)
* We haven't learned our lesson from the first time we tried this

So well thought out that they didn't even think about the reprocutions (that is, if they are even aware they exist) of putting energy tariffs on polluting countries either incapable of or unwilling to fall in line with the left and their (G)r(E)en energy plans the cult of leftism seems to worship. You know you're running out of ways to stiff Americans when you have to resort to back-dooring the Chinese and other countries willing to put production and profits ahead of idealism and misguided principals. Nope, just tax EVERYBODY! (The Obama way)

Yeah, I'm getting sick and tired of the "last-minute" amendments and bills that don't even have ink-drying time before being voted upon by Congresscritters who don't have Clue #1 about their content. It was wrong when "national security" was the buzzword (PATRIOT Act), and it's wrong with "climate change" as the buzzword du jour...

Pete Townshend had it right - "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss..."

I feel Sanford should resign. Although his affairs show a lack of morals it may not rise to a level that he would have to resign if that was the only issue. My problem is he left the state without informing the state government and essentially was derelict of his duty. I know our contributors who have military backgrounds would say Sanford was AWOL. In the military for such an offense Sanford would have been thrown in the brig or in prior years shot. I won't go that far Gov. Sanford. Just resign so I can address you as the ex-Governor of South Carolina.

And must they be (or act) so stark raving nuts?

July 1, 2009 at 11:09 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

I don't think a sworn enemy could destroy this country as well as the left is right now.

July 1, 2009 at 12:09 | Unregistered Commenterbs10

Wingnuts should thank the FSM for the Sanford scandal. You dodged a bullet big-time! This guy is turning out to be as nutty as a WorldNetDaily birther conspiracy theorist. Imagine if he had been able to keep this quiet and were to have become the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, then had his meltdown? Sanford almost makes Sarah Palin look sane. Almost.

And I'm surprised no one has commented on the EMPATHY and JUDICIAL ACTIVISM by the conservative majority on the Supreme Court regarding the Ricci case?

Meanwhile, Obama's disapproval rating grows more and more... perhaps people really are paying attention, despite important news such as Michael Jackson, Charlie's Angel, Mark Sanford and other distracting garbage.

It’s like a mirror image world: “Bizarro World.”

July 1, 2009 at 13:23 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

It’s a world in which

"a criminal conspiracy involving ACORN, George Soros and key elected state officials—acting in collusion with the Democratic Party—make it impossible for Republicans to win elections."

I need to emphasize something: this is not some drooling coffestained jerkoff holding up a misspelled homemade picket sign at the corner of Hollywood and Vine and handing out leaflets about the Illuminati.

This is the chairman of the GOP. Ecce the craziness.

July 1, 2009 at 13:58 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

Yeah, everything that we know about ACORN tells us they are an above board, non-partisan, transparent, honest, in no way connected to Obama, organization.

And George Soros is REALLY everybody's All American hero.

Geez, how did I miss that?

Neither one alone or both caused the Republicans to lose the election, nevertheless......... It's obvious the left welcomes the presents of scumbags in their camp.

I hear Sanford is looking at the "Spitzer Precedent" and saying I wasn't busted with a hooker or the high priest of corruption Blago and selling the office. So does anyone wonder why Sanford is taking his time?

July 1, 2009 at 20:39 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Oh' come on libs we all know the pantheon of upper level nutcases is stuffed with democrats. Those reservations are locked out for decades by libs and libs in-waiting. This one combines a 'truther", "liar", "police assault" and "holocaust denier." Hard to beat the best.

"come on libs we all know the pantheon of upper level nutcases is stuffed with democrats"

Ha ha ha ha ha! Nice try, Tom. But McKinney not only doesn’t chair the Democratic Party, she left it.

I dunno about anyone else, but I’m viewing this as pretty scummy.

You know, I always thought it hyperbolic to name them "media whores," but this...is disgusting.

July 2, 2009 at 12:47 | Registered Commenterwesmorgan1

Hey, I like that term: "media whores" in the service of "big fat liar" and his "neo-fascist" administration.

July 2, 2009 at 13:43 | Unregistered CommenterLoveAmericaImm

We should start calling their logos "tramp stamps"
