Jesse Jackson Plays Race Card On Health Care Vote

THE HILL

Jackson fired a verbal shot at Rep. Artur Davis at a reception, held by the Congressional Black Caucus, Wednesday night. Davis was the only black Congressman to vote against the recent House Healthcare Bill. The Congressman is a democrat from Alabama and is running for Governor.

“We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill,” Jackson said at a reception Wednesday night. “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

Davis, so far, has taken the high road and refused to address the comment.

“One of the reasons that I like and admire Rev. Jesse Jackson is that 21 years ago he inspired the idea that a black politician would not be judged simply as a black leader,” Davis’s statement said. “The best way to honor Rev. Jackson’s legacy is to decline to engage in an argument with him that begins and ends with race.”

Rev Jackson acted stupidly.

But what a classy response by Congressman Davis.

I agree with you on both counts, Duff.

One politician showed class. The other former democratic presidential candidate showed the usual actions of a race hustling degenerate who shames the legacy of Martin Luther King.

The man really is hungry for some attention.

Well, that's what race pimps do... when no obvious form of racism are present they up and create them out of thin air. I can only take Jackson's statements as... "if you don't favor the health care bill, you're a racist"

(Gee... who didn't see THAT one coming?)

Skinny, I think you're reading a bit much into Jackson's comment....stupid identity politics, yes, but not "you're a racist."

I'm amazed President Obama didn't say it first when personally lobbying House Dems to pass Health America Part I.

November 20, 2009 at 11:31 | Unregistered CommenterBozio

How are the Dems going to explain that even though their health care bill passed, it won't go into effect until maybe 2013 or after even though they're going to collect taxes during that time?
Personnaly, I think it genius that they can hold voters hostage like that. (Is there a 'lock box' for the proceeds?)

ZOMG too d*** funny!

Frustrated angry Nooshans boo and chant when Sarah Sparklestars “books it” out of an Indiana book signing appearance early . . . without autographing their purchases.

"Sub-50%
President Obama's job approval numbers will dip below 50% for the first time today in Gallup's daily tracking poll, according to a Gallup official."

According to Gallop the most un-popular first year president EVER!

We love you Barack. We do, we really do.

Our feelings are easily hurt.

November 20, 2009 at 15:04 | Registered CommenterGrayRider

On the contrary Wes...

“You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

If that's the case, what does that say about white people who don't support it? That we aren't considerate of the needs for all the black folks? That's perhaps the most racist accusation he could make, but I wouldn't put it past Jesse Jackson.
