Should 'Political Correctness' Bear Some Of The Blame In The Ft. Hood Attack?
Nidal Malik Hasan had long exhibited anti-American and pro radical Islam behavior, obvious to his friends and co-workers, prior to his Fort Hood, TX shooting in which he killed 13 and woundied 29. Yet no one said anything.
Finnell said he did just that during a year of study in which Hasan made a presentation "that justified suicide bombing" and spewed "anti-American propaganda" as he argued the war on terror was "a war against Islam." Finnell said he and at least one other student complained about Hasan, surprised that someone with "this type of vile ideology" would be allowed to wear an officer’s uniform.
But Finnell said no one filed a formal, written complaint about Hasan’s comments out of fear of appearing discriminatory.
Even various government agencies had information and concerns about Hasan's contacts, but did nothing in fear of possible consequences.
Investigators would have been "crucified" over First Amendment rights if they had launched a full-scale probe into e-mails Fort Hood massacre suspect Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly sent to a radical imam, a government investigator told Fox News.
Perhaps if growing fears of not being politically correct were replaced with, what used to be considered plain old common sense...this terrorist tragedy could have been averted. Perhaps.

The articles you cite raise two lame points and one good point.
1) That "crucified" quote is a little selective. Here's what the guy actually said, later in the article:
In other words, the email didn't appear to point toward Islamist violence or jihad. The guy is right - if you tried to launch an Islamist/terror probe with no evidence, you'd be "crucified"...and justifiably so.
Apparently, he was a pretty poor resident - but, again, there's no open anti-Americanism in this situation.2) The "how would it look to fire a Muslim" question wasn't in the context of violence or anti-Americanism, either. As NPR reported:
So, we're left with one big point, but it's a doozy:
3) If Hasan really gave a classroom presentation in which he criticized US war policy and defended suicide bombers, his classmates and superiors at USUHS should have raised the issue right then and there. There's your breakdown.
By the way, did you notice that Fox News referred to it as "faith-inspired violence?" I hadn't seen that one; I wonder what else fits in that bucket.
I'm sure ACORN played a role as well. And George Soros.
I'm curious on how big an investigation will come of this shooting. Bill Bennett @ CNN said for Tailhook in the 90's 4000 service personnel were interviewed and literally 100's had there military careers stopped. And no one died. we deserve at least the same level of investigation. We will see.
I have to wonder how many people thought Hasan was doing a Corporal Klinger routine? Pretending to be a radical just for the sake of getting out of the military.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and venture a guess....Hmmm, I'm thinkin'........NOBODY!!!
kwAwk brings up a good point.
And that gives me a stiffy.
ACLU where are U?
Given that Hasan was already trying to get out of the service (to the point of hiring a civilian attorney), the acting route wouldn't be discounted by anyone investigating the matter.
Amazing.
Right, right - does that mean that Fox News is aiding/abetting Obama by calling it "faith-inspired violence"?
More of a distraction from the real topics. Most people don't care about what a news organization says, does or puts their political weight behind. They're usually smart enough to know the difference between all of the networks that do. What they are concerned about is what the president is doing (or more accurately, NOT doing) than they are about what one network is calling the other, or how one political group feels about Fox News, or MSNBC, or whomever, or any of the other silly nonsense we call news these days.
The last person in the White House to go all vocal over Fox News had to step down? Anybody want to talk about her? Just add her to the list that includes Van Jones, another name only Fox News felt worth mentioning again and again.
Poor Anita. Dunn in done. WWMTTD*!?
(*What Would Mao Tse Tung Do?)
Silly, transparent Nooshans, ceaselessly claiming scalps (and sweet victory!) with every dawn for successfully exhorting the sun to rise. It’s well known Dunn had only taken on her job on a temporary basis to begin with. But Beefcake, if you’re loathe to let that champagne in the fridge go flat, hell, be my guest! Bottoms up! Yet another glorious victory! More good news for conservatives!
Temporary? Hmmmmmmmmm, How convenient. Well known among moonbats who buy into all obama/left wing media dribble....
Gotta go now, gotta take my leisure suit to the cleaners, later dude..
I'm tired of this bullshit. Every muslim serving in our armed forces should have to reaffirm their military oath of service or face immediate discharge.
It is good to see the dribble actually works on some though Tijuana. It makes me feel like my tax dollars aren't being complete y wasted. It also seems to keep the crazies distracted and prevents them from having to witness their party's leaders attacking each other. (Not to mention their inevitable self destruction)
Today's excuse: It's all going to be Joe Lieberman's fault. Funny.
Sure, I'll chuckle it up, but champaign is for whoosies. I'll instead toast my glass, filled to the brim with some Crown Royal on the rocks, and I'll do so by watching Glenn Beck laugh, and laugh, and laugh his ass off about Ms. Dunn's "untimely decision." I do find it interesting that people weren't chiming in unison before her attacks on Fox News, nor during, only after the backlash seemed to overwhelm the White House, as do many things I see.
It's like we are witnessing our nations first "lame-duck-supreme-majority?"
I do appreciate the nice attempt to downplay the story though. Partial credit for equivocating conservatism with the barbaric act of husking the brain from another liberal muttonhead. It made me laugh like a silly person.
