I enjoyed the read. Took about 5 mins. Undederstood every word. Haven't changed my mind. Thank you.

I still think that picture of Nurse Pelosi is priceless.
Try to imagine if she and Hulk Hogan had a love child:

"Kids... eat your vegetables, say your prayers, take your vitamins and believe in yourself, and someday you too will be able to pick up and read mommy's health care plan"

October 29, 2009 at 13:12 | Unregistered CommenterSDiA

She does look proud of herself.

What did wingnuts expect, a coloring book? Seriously, is that your new attack on healthcare reform? - "It's too complicated".

October 29, 2009 at 15:03 | Unregistered CommenterChicken George

By the way, where is the Republican bill? I thought Boehner and his merry band of twinks promised to post an alternative to this bill for the CBO to score? C'mon, I wanted to see how tort reform and shopping accross state lines will save us so much money.

October 29, 2009 at 15:24 | Unregistered CommenterChicken George

It's my understanding that the republicans have authored numerous bills and amendments that the dems wouldn't let out of committee.

Nazi Pelosi says House dem plan will add approximately 47 million people to government insurance, increase taxes on "millionaires” to pay for it, create jobs AND cut the budget deficit. You would think on the day that the AP of all people calls bullshit on the Obama administration jobs claim; this imbecile Pelosi would wait a day to rollout her plan that has less credibility than a SWAG estimate. No such luck from the demwits who claim lower taxes create deficits and spending has nothing to do with it.

October 29, 2009 at 15:53 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Maybe in the demwith 1900 page healthcare bill will get more job creators like this:

"$300,000 FOR MAPPING RADIOACTIVE RABBIT FECES:

“A Week Mapping Radioactive Rabbit Feces With Detectors Mounted On A Helicopter Flying 50 Feet Over The Desert Scrub. … $300,000 In Federal Stimulus Money.”

October 29, 2009 at 16:06 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

the demwits

Tom's really getting enamored of his shiny new epithet. <sigh> Guess it's time to bring "Retardicans."

Nazi Pelosi

. . . . sooooo cuh-rayzy . . .

October 29, 2009 at 18:57 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

The phrase "Nazi Pelosi" may have been a bit harsh. I mean a woman who meets in secret with committee chairmen, has the locks changed on committee doors to keep Republican out, and bars all Republicans or anyone not on her list with Capital Hill police from her healthcare party can't be compared with a demonic German political movement. I'll just say in that regard she's Nazi-lite in her pr controlling message effort.

October 30, 2009 at 08:11 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

"Stimulus creates 650,000 jobs
White House releases first broad look at stimulus-funded employment, focusing on $150 billion in spending."

bhwa, bhwa, bhwa.. oh' man. Trick or treat with that SWAG number? Good one. Let's all wait for the independent analysis that 'resets' that figure down to around 6,500 jobs.

October 30, 2009 at 08:40 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

The Obama Administration lacks imagination. They should claim the stimulus bill saved 130M jobs!!

The word 'Nazi' get used too much. We all know that. But it means different things to different people.
My aunt Rosie was a Nazi. She was 10 years old when Hitler came to power and to this day, he's still a hero to her. The autrocities were not Hitler's fault.
But my mom!! You'd better never call her a Nazi! She hates them and has the scars to prove it! And no, we're not Jewish. She simply refused to join the party.

When I said Newt Gingrich was a lying moronic goat****ing horse thief I may have been a bit harsh. Let's just say he's a lying moronic goat****ing horse thief -lite.

This was one of the more interesting and exciting paragraphs for my money:

“(a) Outpatient Hospitals – (1) In General – Section 1833(t)(3)(C)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395(t)(3)(C)(iv)) is amended – (A) in the first sentence – (i) by inserting “(which is subject to the productivity adjustment described in subclause (II) of such section)” after “1886(b)(3)(B)(iii); and (ii) by inserting “(but not below 0)” after “reduced”; and (B) in the second sentence, by inserting “and which is subject, beginning with 2010 to the productivity adjustment described in section 1886(b)(3)(B)(iii)(II)”.

Really does tickle the intellect, don't it. :)

October 30, 2009 at 11:33 | Unregistered CommenterTijuana

Words from a Republican RINO Peggy Noona who formerly was a not just a fan of Obama but the potential democrats could do from the 2008 election.

"We are governed at all levels by America's luckiest children, sons and daughters of the abundance, and they call themselves optimists but they're not optimists—they're unimaginative. They don't have faith, they've just never been foreclosed on. They are stupid and they are callous, and they don't mind it when people become disheartened. They don't even notice."

October 30, 2009 at 12:48 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Chicken, listen to BEEF: 1990 pages translates to f###ing expensive in my book.
Only a moron would translate that as "it's just too complicated to understand."
Like always.... Insult first, think second. That's the liberal way.

(unless of course they're short on time, then they just skip step 2 and repeat step 1)

Dow 9,708.5 -254.08 (-2.55%)

Dow Industrials down 254 points; how can this be? Obama said he has 'saved/created' 650k jobs, has a healthcare plan that will cover us all AND cut the deficit, plus the economy grew by 3.5% in Q3. Some with less faith in Obama are calling bullshit I guess.

Insult first, think second. That's the liberal way.
I refer the right honorable gentleman to the opening comments of this thread.

Dow 9,708.5 -254.08 (-2.55%)
Gee, TM, where were you when it was over 10,000 last week? You do realize that the Dow is up 1400+ points since inauguration, right? *laugh*

The DJIA is useless as a reactive metric. As I noted in last week's open thread:

After initially continuing its weakness, the greenback reversed course, sending oil plunging below $80 a barrel and turning energy stocks like Hess (HES: 57.5601, -1.4299, -2.42%) and Sunoco (SUN: 32.7, -0.42, -1.27%) into the red. Crude, which had touched $81.58 a barrel earlier, fell $1.82, or 2.26%, to $78.68. Gold was also hit by the stronger dollar, sinking $13.50 an ounce, or 1.28%, to $1042.10 -- its lowest settle since Oct. 6.
So, a strong dollar hurts the DJIA. Lower oil prices hurt the DJIA. Lower gold prices hurt the DJIA. In short, lots of stuff that is very good for the typical American (or things that indicate a stronger American economy) are bad for the DJIA.

You'll excuse me if I don't pay a great deal of attention to daily dips or spikes.

October 30, 2009 at 13:16 | Registered Commenterwesmorgan1

Given the shrinking dollar... is 10,000 really the same as it used to be?

October 30, 2009 at 14:14 | Unregistered CommenterBEEFCAKE

"I refer the right honorable gentleman to the opening comments of this thread."

How is cynicism at "normal" persons ability to read one thousand nine hundred and ninety pages of encryption, understand it and have it change their mind equivalent to "criticism without thinking?"

Uh wes, here is a hint on how to answer that. DON'T, it is intended to be rhetorical. No response needed because there is no equivalence.

October 30, 2009 at 14:28 | Unregistered CommenterTijuana

Tijuana, I was referring to "Nurse Pelosi" and "Nazi Pelosi," not your first comment specifically.

However, either of us can provide many, many counterexamples, yes?

October 30, 2009 at 14:47 | Registered Commenterwesmorgan1

Given the shrinking dollar... is 10,000 really the same as it used to be?
Ask TM - he's the one who trumpets every DJIA drop as a criticism of Obama, but remains silent when it improves...I've said for years that using the DJIA as any sort of yardstick is meaningless, since they change the makeup of that index to suit their tastes...

October 30, 2009 at 14:48 | Registered Commenterwesmorgan1

10-4 wes, scool.

October 30, 2009 at 15:48 | Unregistered CommenterTijuana

Tom, Peggy Noone is a sentimental Retardican apparatchik (read: hack) who hasn't made a lot of sense since her former boss Reagan went to the Big Round Up In The Sky. Nevertheless, there's quite a bit in that particular column with which I'd have to agree. There's a real desperation gathering.

October 30, 2009 at 15:50 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

I'm surprised that blrag has seemingly passed on the Halloween theme. Or will that be tomorrow?? :) BOO!

October 30, 2009 at 15:52 | Unregistered CommenterTijuana

Wes;

Your lack of a clue sometimes is remarkable. I KNOW the Dow at times can go up or down irrespective of what Obama does. The point I was making is the sophomoric attempt by the WH to portray the stimulus as this job producing/saving machine that's set the foundation for a sustained recovery as evidenced by the Q3 GDP of 3.5% was more than likely today given a big wet bitch slap by the market.

October 30, 2009 at 16:20 | Unregistered CommenterThomas Miller

Your lack of a clue sometimes is remarkable.
No, your past comments (which only seem to show up when the Dow drops) give us ample "clue" as to your understanding and/or intent.

Speaking of "sophomoric attempts"...let's review, shall we?

TM, October 30:

Dow Industrials down 254 points; how can this be? Obama said he has 'saved/created' 650k jobs, has a healthcare plan that will cover us all AND cut the deficit, plus the economy grew by 3.5% in Q3. Some with less faith in Obama are calling bullshit I guess.

TM, June 22:

"DOW FALLS 201 AS ECONOMIC FEARS ERUPT"

As yes, the power of higher spending, higher taxes, more regulation and eventual 11% unempolyment.

HOPE-CHANGE-HYPE!!!!

TM, March 2:

3 PM CST DOW-6,763!!! Nice job Obama administration. Since Obama was elected the Dow has dropped 1,186 points or 15%. A new record which Obama can be so proud.

TM, February 23:

The Dow has now lost a 1,000 points or approximately 14% of its value since Broke Obama became President. A first month record. Every time he, Biden, Geithner, Dodd, Pelosi or almost any other dimwit opens there mouth, another $250 billion is shaved off the Dow.

TM, February 17:

The stock market is an excellent leading indicator for all types of measurements around those that concern money. The Dow’s judgment of the Obama administration? An un-mitigated disaster since November 2008.

TM, January 20:

Good news indeed. The WORST Dow drop EVER for a presidential inauguration. America, that 's the change you voted for.

By comparison, here are your comments on other noteworthy (I guess) DJIA events:

* Dow up almost 1800 points since inauguration: <crickets chirping>
* Dow above November 2008 levels: <crickets chirping>
* Dow breaks 10,000 for first time since October 2008: <crickets chirping>

Yeah, those are all the clues we need. Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Senator Hatch: Giving Americans what they want is “diabolical.”

CMIU, folks.

Not in a million years could I make that up.

Tom, in case you missed it: you've just been pwned.

Nice work, Wes.

November 2, 2009 at 13:53 | Unregistered CommenterWinston

The health-care reform debate has done a good job avoiding the subject of prices.

True dat.
