The Strange Case of Obama's Missing Words

Remember Obama's inane call for some sort of massive civilian defense force?  Idiotic statement, and apparently his staff members have recognized that fact, and have been busy with the erasers.  The statement is gone.  Kaput.  Outta here.  Never existed.  What statement?

Copies of the speech do not include these words he spoke:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Too bad for Obama that we have them recorded, and posted on Youtube as well.  Nice try by the Eraser Squad, but this isn't 1908, it's 2008.

It's true that the transcript doesn't have those two sentences. However, it's also true that the details and hard numbers are still on his website, so I'm inclined to think that either the transcript is goofed or this is one of those "deleted, but he decided to say it anyway" things.

I don't think it's an Eraser Squad issue, of the sort we saw with the disappearance of his criticism of the "surge" in Iraq.

Obama is scrubbing his website of those uncomfortable claims about the surge not working. Barack Baxter, "God where is my telepromter?" Where is James Brown? Is she not going to the middle east with him? Gee, I guess you keep the imbittered wife at home if you don't want any negative press. Sooner or later James Brown is going to have to come out.

Vanity, to some it just feels like winning in the morning.
