Obama is socialist.

Medicare is socialist.

Social Security is socialist.

Who knew?

My. my. How fair and balanced. A leftie, a rightie, and a leftie "moderator. CNN is a bad joke.

The Blitzter: "Just because government will be running health care, that doesn't make it socialist." BwaaaHaaHaaaa.

Hello, Wolfie, wakey wakey. Time for more coffee, in lieu of an actual education.

Oh, and I really enjoyed Wolfie insisting that the self-described scoialist Bernie Sanders be referred to as an independent.

Just two demeaning nicknames, a little empty sarcasm and the obligatory whack at the "liberal media" ?

C'mon.

Make an effort.

Who watches CNN anymore? Cover CNN's debt and AOL-Time Warner will give you this dinosaur.

Ah, yes, more "shoot the messenger." Anything to avoid the actual content.

July 19, 2008 at 14:08 | Registered Commenterwesmorgan1

Um... the "content" is the fact that Blitzer is a blithering idiot who can't even bring himself to call Sanders a socialist, and doesn't comprehend that state-run health care is a socialist concept. These are simple facts, not debatable, not difficult to comprehend, unless one is a member of the leftist media.

Is it a "simple fact" that Medicare is "socialist"? that Social Security is "socialist"?

As for the leftists whining about the characterization of Obama as being the most leftward member of the Senate, that too is backed up.

The National Journal rated him as the most liberal member, giving Obama a foreign policy score of 92 liberal and 7 conservative, On domestic policy Obama voted liberal on 65 out of 66 issues.

If the National Journal isn't a source you want to accept, let's look at the ADA leftists and what they say. The ADA gave Obama a 97.5 liberal rating.

So be proud of your leftist candidate. Shout his voting record from the rooftops. I'm sure that will help him in November.

July 19, 2008 at 16:25 | Registered CommenterRedbeard

By all means, Redbeard, go look at the 99 handpicked roll-call votes that National Journal used for their ratings. They include cloture votes, votes to table amendments, and surprisingly few votes on final passage of legislation. They also pick 2, 3, 4 votes from a single bill; there are even cases where 9 and 10 "votes" are actually various motions, amendments and motions of a SINGLE BILL. That's right - 20% of their sample came from TWO bills. That's, um, really, er, representative. Not.

I also note that Obama didn't vote on a full third of the votes they selected. (That really bothers me, but all the candidates skipped votes like crazy...sigh) So, they're really only evaluating him on 66% of their self-created scorecard. Uh huh.

If the same people pick the votes for the "scorecard" and decide the weight of each in their analysis, it's a pretty simple thing to make it say whatever they want. Amazingly, they named John Kerry the "most liberal" when he was running for President, too! Wow, what a coincidence! Oh, gosh, look at this:

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the only other senator whose presidential candidacy survived the initial round of primaries and caucuses this year, did not vote frequently enough in 2007 to draw a composite score. He missed more than half of the votes in both the economic and foreign-policy categories.
How convenient that their hand-picked list just happened to relieve them of the obligation to rate McCain. (snort)

The sad thing is that much of what passes for "liberal" in Washington is actually pretty darned close to the center.

July 19, 2008 at 18:08 | Registered Commenterwesmorgan1

And so is what passes for "socialist" in extreme right circles.

July 19, 2008 at 18:23 | Registered CommenterWinston

Wes, why are you ignoring the ADA rating of Obama? Did they also "hand pick" things to make Obama look like an extreme leftist?
