FISA Moves Ahead Despite Lefties

Senate cloture vote 80-15, with this sterling cast of leftie Dems in the tiny minority:

Biden, Boxer, Brown, Cantwell. Dodd, Durbin, Feingold, Harkin, Kerry, Lautenberg, Leahy, Menendez, Sanders, Schumer, and Wyden.

No surprises there.  Presumably this vote will preserve the street cred of the 15 as they seek the blessings of the nutroots.

Thanks to all who stood up for the Constitution.

Yep, this is a pretty sad thing.

Yep, very sad indeed that 15 leftists could be so blind.

But tell me, how do you feel about your man Obama, now that he has done a 180 on FISA? I must admit, he is a master of spin, shifting his public positions like the desert sands. From promising to filibuster the FISA bill to supporting the bill, all while missing the vote..... masterful.

On the one hand... but then on the other hand.... and of course..... maybe..... yes and no

Al Qaeda say's thanks to the "Senate 15." They promise to only kill and mame in the states that voted for the wire tap.

"how do you feel about your man Obama, now that he has done a 180 on FISA"

I'm pretty unhappy and disappointed about his stance to tell you the truth. Whether it's "a 180" I'll have to look into more closely.

Tom apparently thinks even with retroactive warranting we can't properly monitor terrorist communications unless the President can do anything he damn well pleases. Yet despite my reluctance to extend predictions I'm willing to bet when the Preznit is not one of his liking, his opinion will turn on a dime; unaccountable Executive power will suddenly strike Tuckered Out as easily abused and highly dangerous.

Actually, I've seen analyses which suggest the amendments to FISA immunize from civil suits, not criminal prosecution. I might actually take that as a compromise.
