A Man is Known by the Friends He (or his wife) Keeps - Part Trey

As the pieces of the puzzle come together, Obama's questionable associations are looking less and less coincidental, and more and more as though they are part of a disturbing pattern.

Here we have Michelle Obama listing herself as a "friend" of a Hamas-connected character.

But, of course, the evidence has been removed from the Obama campaign website.  Gone.  Never happened.  Nothing to see here.  Except that some sharp-eyed bloggers snagged screen shots of the blog page in question, in both stages of its life prior to being scrubbed clean.

Each new revelation of Obama's disreputable associations raises new questions about his fitness for public office.  The collective total of these associations is nearing critical mass, politically.

. . . or by the friends of someone who was on a cruise his wife's plumber's next-door-neighbor's barber's niece was on . . .

The snide comment about plumbers and cruises and such is far off the mark.

We are talking about Michelle Obama, the candidate's wife, placing her name on the "friends" list of a known Hamas associate.

Did you know John McCain's wife stole drugs for her habit?

True story.

I'm sure you can link Mrs. McCain to Michelle Obama's desire to be a friend to a fundraiser for terrorism. Otherwise, there would be no reason to mention her in this thread.

Did you know John McCain is married to a drug thief?

True story!

I'm trying as hard as I can to put together a response to you, Winston, that is in keeping with the civil tone Zoy wants this blog to maintain, but to no avail, so I will leave it at that and move forward.

Like Senators Clinton and McCain, Senator Obama has a platform and a fairly specific portfolio of policies and priorities he's put forward that reflect how he proposes to move America forward. He's answerable for a legislative history both in Illinois and the US Senate. He's authored two books.

Mining all of that for stuff you take issue with, is completely fair game.

Obsessive efforts to smear him by association are every bit as unfair and irrelevant as focusing on the conduct of Senator McCain's wife's when she was drug-addicted.

It's difficult to refer to something as a smear if it's true.

Did Cindy McCain have a drug problem, and did she swipe the painkillers from her own charity? Yes. To say so is not a smear. It's the truth.

Do Barack and Michelle Obama have very questionable associations with unsavory people, including a fundraiser for terrorists? Yes. To say so is not a smear. It's the truth.

Not only that, but which case bears importantly upon this election? The one that illustrates a candidate's wife's past personal transgressions? Hardly. Or the one that calls into question a candidate's agenda, an agenda that will be reflected in every action he takes as president? Definitely.
________
Edited to add:

Just to be perfectly clear here, if anyone wants to examine McCain's associations with the Keating Five, that too is fair game. No matter what conclusions result, the examination of the company he kept, and keeps, is 100% justified and critical to determining fitness for office.

Let's look at ALL of McCain's personal and professional associations. Let's say, for example, that it turns out he attended a church run by a white supremacist for 20 years and called the man his spiritual guide. In that case, we would need to look at his character very closely. If McCain had gotten his start in politics in the home of an unapologetic abortion clinic bomber, that would be a huge problem. If McCain received campaign endorsements from Nazis, that would be a disturbing bellwether.

The bottom line is that a candidate's personal and political associations are crucial.
