Change Is Coming

I don’t minimize the challenge of figuring out what to do with dozens if not hundreds of possibly extremely dangerous people. But this is very, very good news. For America.

I suspect the liberal justices on SCOTUS will find no problem with this "new system of justice" even after they pulled the rug out from under the military tribunal system the Bush Administration and Congress developed (and SCOTUS required in the first place).

I predict this will end up being bad for America and "very, very good news" for the lawyers.

Rosie, only you and your political like would rejoice in this news. I see it first as the "lawyer full employment act paid by the U.S. taxpayer". This is a terrible idea that only the terrorists, liberals and as I mentioned the ACLU lawyers will love. A new kangaroo court here in the U.S that day-after-day we can have terrorists claim there civil rights were denied on the battle field therefore they are innocent. Elections have consequences and the smarter voters who did not vote for Obama knew this crap was coming. We'll see if Americans like paying for the likes of KSM telling us were the real killers on earth.

It sounds like Obama is now backtracking from the claims made in Winston's linked article:

"The Obama transition team yesterday denied news reports that it was considering a new national security court to handle some detainees -- and future captures -- who might be difficult to prosecute in federal court but who are regarded as too dangerous to release.

[...]

"There is absolutely no truth to reports that a decision has been made about how and where to try the detainees, and there is no process in place to make that decision until his national security and legal teams are assembled," said Denis McDonough, a senior foreign policy adviser for the transition team, in a statement. "

I guess the lawyers will just have to wait...
