Virginia Teachers Union Sparks Outrage With 'Obama Blue Day'
Republicans outraged as teachers engage in illegal collusion to influence election. Had this been an endorsement by a church, the liberals would have put the IRS on speed dial.

Why am I not surprised?
This is beyond stupid. This stuff doesn't belong in the classroom. If they want to have a march or a rally outside school hours, more power to them - but this is simply too much.
The list of proper political activities in our schools is very short; in fact, I'd probably limit it to:
* Service as a polling place on Election Day,
* Location for a non-partisan voter registration drive, or
* Location for a bipartisan/all-candidates event, like a debate.
I can't think of any other use that I'd call appropriate...
It's the current face of the teacher's union, which has left its original mission behind in favor of becoming a highly partisan left-wing political organization.
Newtonian politics?
Employer brings NRA to coal mine to film anti-Obama ad - miners stop work in protest.
This seems pretty clear-cut to me. When one accepts a job, one has sold one's time to one's employer. It isn't the employee's place to do partisan political stuff on the employer's dime, and it shouldn't be the employer's place to do this sort of thing to the employees.
Who owns the mine? The union? Really?
Who I allow on my business property is MY business, not anyone else's, and it's most certainly not up to my employees to make that determination.
But primarily, you're trying to muddy the issue in this thread by bringing in something totally unrelated and nowhere near equivalent.
Redbeard, how can I "muddy" a thread in which I've already agreed with you? *grin*
The issue is political activity in the workplace. I would suggest that the topic is sufficiently broad to encompass both examples. Even then, all I said was that, since employees definitely have NO place to bring politics in the workplace, employers shouldn't do it either. I didn't say that they COULDN'T, I said that they SHOULDN'T. It was just an observation. Sure, I was expanding the discussion a bit, but I think that expansion reasonable.
The reference to "Newtonian politics" was just an "equal and opposite" observation; I saw the story on the miners soon after I'd posted my comment here.
Sometimes it's difficult to tell when you're agreeing.
And if you're so agreeable, where's the beer?
Actually, the weekend beer has yet to be purchased. I'll drink one for you.
I agreed in my first comment, where I said "This is beyond stupid. This stuff doesn't belong in the classroom." *grin*
